Manipal College of Dental Science (MCODS) is ranked 2 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework for dental colleges in India. Having a vision to make leaders and a global mission on excellence in dental education, MCODS offers a 4 year of course and clinical work followed by 1 year of rotating internship.
Curriculum: The curriculum includes activities like case discussions, demonstrations, phantom head (simulation) exercises, workshops and seminars.
Assessments: Formative and summative assessments are used with not much details given. The summative assessments at end of year 2 is on preclinical phantom exercises while year 4 has theory and clinical (patient treatment) exams. Formative assessments is at end of each discipline posting, with no details if it is for learning or of learning.
My comment: MCODS is the first private dental college of India and is steeped in history. There is little information available online on curriculum in MCODS. It is most likely to be the traditional curriculum followed in most colleges in India with first 2 years on preclinical and basic medical sciences followed by two years on clinical training. More information on the curriculum and academic features of MCODS curriculum will help us understand more.
